SmarterWayToApply technology. Our mission is to help everyday voters — not political junkies — understand who and what they're
actually voting for. The app does not endorse or recommend any party, candidate, or
official, and every factual claim about a candidate's or official's record is grounded in

## How to use the app

plain English: verified account setup, the 16-question quiz, constitutional context, the
four-axis profile, My Account, Action Packs, representative research, ballot lookup, candidate
and measure research, political news, current-issues refreshes, letters, pricing, sources,
limitations, and troubleshooting.

## What it does

- **Political Quiz**: A multi-dimensional quiz (economic, social, foreign policy, and
  environmental axes) that produces a plain-English ideology profile, party alignment
  percentages, historical-figure comparisons, and a reading list.
- **My Representatives**: Look up your real federal, state, and local elected officials by
  ZIP code, address, or name. See their actual voting records, sourced from official
  government sites and live web search, with a percentage match against your quiz results.
- **My Ballot (Ballot Match)**: Look up your upcoming election ballot by ZIP code using the
  Google Civic Information API, then choose candidates — incumbents or challengers,
  federal, state, or local — for sourced, plain-English research and a match score against
  your values.
- **Daily Civic Briefing**: Read a free daily digest of consequential U.S. political news.
  Each edition synthesizes multiple sources in original plain language, distinguishes
  verified events from interpretation, attributes disputed claims, and links the primary
  records and reporting used. Permanent editions are indexed under `/news/YYYY-MM-DD`.

## Accounts and saved data

- A verified email account is required to take and submit the quiz, use paid research, and save
  account work. Users can create an account with email and password or use Google sign-in.
- The app may create a temporary guest session while a user is getting started, but guest data is
  tied to that device/session and is not durable.
- Signing out of a guest session resets access to its temporary profile and locally saved research.
- A verified account preserves the profile, home location, research history, and paid Action Packs
  for access on other devices.
- Users can print or save completed reports as PDF.
- Longer research jobs may email the verified account address when a sourced result is saved.

## Methodology and sources

- Quiz answers are scored independently on economic, social, foreign-policy, and environmental
  axes from -100 to +100. These are survey indices, not probabilities or voting recommendations.
- A live AI interpretation produces the written profile when available. If that service is
  unavailable, the browser calculates a local profile from the same axis scores and labels it.
- Ballot data comes from the Google Civic Information API.
- Candidate and official research uses live web search with visible citations. Official
  government sources are preferred; Voteview may supplement federal legislative comparisons.
- The product does not endorse parties, candidates, or officials.

## Pricing (as of July 2026)

- **Political profile quiz — free.** A verified email account is required to take and submit it.
- **Action Pack — $4.99.** Includes two ballot lookups, one representative search, a shared
  pool of 15 candidate, ballot measure, official, or local-news research reports, five advocacy letters, and one
  current-issues quiz refresh.
- **Additional research reports — $0.99 each.** Visible while an Action Pack is active and
  charged only after the user confirms a separate Stripe checkout.
- **Election Season Pass — $19.99 one-time.** Includes six Action Packs for the election
  season.

Civic Watch monthly subscriptions are not currently offered to new customers. Existing
subscribers can manage billing from their account.
